Our Journey.
From Florida to New York to Grenada

Nutmeg Nostalgia has never been just about selling food. It has always been about what food represents: memory, culture, creativity, connection, and home.

What started in Brooklyn has kept evolving through every chapter of the journey. Each place has added something different to the story, and each chapter has helped shape what Nutmeg Nostalgia is becoming.
Chapters
1: Where It Began
Brooklyn, New York
Nutmeg Nostalgia began in late 2015 in Brooklyn, New York, when founder Raquel Niles turned to cooking and creating food as a source of creativity, comfort, and positive expression during a difficult period in her life.
Friends, family, and loved ones had long encouraged her to share her food beyond her own kitchen, often reminding her that her cooking was good enough for people to pay for.
What started with cooking, baking, and creating party treats slowly began to take shape as something more.
Nutmeg Nostalgia was born.
2: Building The Business
New York
In 2019, Nutmeg Nostalgia was formally established in Syracuse, New York.
As the business developed, so did its vision.
Food remained at the center, but Nutmeg Nostalgia began exploring the relationship between food, wellness, education, and everyday living.
The company formed collaborations, introduced new products and services, and continued to grow.
But growth also taught an important lesson:
More isn’t always better.
3: The Florida Chapter
Tampa, FL
Florida became another important part of the Nutmeg Nostalgia story.
Here, the business expanded into catering, baking, gardening, specialty products, wellness-focused offerings, and culinary experiences.
The garden became particularly important—not simply as a nursery, but as a source of herbs, ingredients, experimentation, and connection to the land.
Growing and working with herbs such as broadleaf thyme helped reconnect the business to Caribbean culinary traditions and planted the seeds for what would eventually become an important part of Nutmeg Nostalgia’s future.
Florida became a chapter of growth, experimentation, learning, and refinement.
Chapters
4: Returning To New York
Brooklyn, New York
The next chapter brings Nutmeg Nostalgia back toward its New York roots.
But this isn’t simply a return to where the business began.
It’s an opportunity to take everything learned along the way and build something more focused.

The New York chapter will center around:
-
Caribbean-inspired catering
-
Private dining and culinary experiences
-
Baking
-
Cooking education
-
Wellness and nutrition education
-
Signature products
-
Caribbean food and heritage
The goal isn’t to do everything.
It’s to do the right things well.
5: Looking To Grenada
Grenada, W.I.
Grenada represents the long-term vision.
As a place deeply connected to Caribbean food, culture, family, agriculture, herbs, spices, and memories, Grenada offers an opportunity for Nutmeg Nostalgia to eventually become more than a food business.

The long-term vision includes:
Caribbean Culinary Experiences
Cooking classes, food experiences, and intimate culinary events.
Private Caribbean Dining
Creating memorable meals for families, celebrations, visitors, and special occasions.
Garden-to-Table Products
Growing selected herbs and ingredients that can become signature Nutmeg Nostalgia products.
Caribbean Products
Developing a small collection of carefully crafted products inspired by Grenadian and Caribbean flavors.
Food & Wellness Education
Continuing to connect nutrition, cooking, culture, and everyday nourishment.
Where We're Going
The journey isn’t finished. It’s evolving.
From Brooklyn to Syracuse, from Florida back toward New York, and eventually to Grenada, every chapter has shaped Nutmeg Nostalgia. The business is becoming smaller in some ways, but more intentional in others.

We’re making room for what matters most: food, culture, wellness, creativity, connection, and the experiences that help us remember where we come from.
This is Nutmeg Nostalgia LLC. This is only the beginning.
